I work with Ministry of Sound on their streaming app MoS Live. My main contribution has been around programming strategy, working with the label and radio teams to join the dots between their three principal lines of business – radio, compilations and curation.
In September 2015, the UN launched Global Goals, a series of ambitious targets to end hunger, extreme poverty and tackle climate change by 2030. Radio Everyone was a global pop-up station dedicated to communicating the Goals to all 7 billion people on the planet within 7 days, featuring unique content curated and hosted by influencers from around the world and distributed by the world’s largest broadcasters to all corners of the earth.
My role at Radio Everyone was to license the service globally for recordings and publishing, manage the simulcast strategy by selecting the most cost effective streaming and hosting partners, as well as seek out online distribution partners such as Mix Radio …
Immediately following the company’s acquisition by Line, in the lead-up to launching on iOS and Android, I advised MixRadio on curation strategy, music flow, playlist hierarchy and UX. Later I introduced them to insight-based creativity techniques to help with a new editorial strategy, running a workshop on how innovation can be applied to the planning process and devising of compelling playlists.
A one-year consultancy advising the UK’s biggest ISP on long-term music strategy whilst caretaker-managing its VOD music TV service commercially & editorially. I devised and delivered a multi-platform music strategy spanning TV, online and devices, business-casing several propositions spanning an 18-month roadmap and multiple lines of business.
Spearheaded the successful launch of Last.fm Originals, a video programming and editorial content hub showcasing intimate, ad-funded artist experiences. Developed multiple music content franchises such as the Last.fm Lightship Sessions and Discovery of the Week. Content editor for 10 Years of Scrobbling, a celebration of music listening in Last.fm data.
Most Punk, a countdown show celebrating the 25th anniversary of Punk, illustrated using contemporary figures from the world of art, literature, sport and politics. Most Punk has become a regular music brand on Radio 1 and 1Xtra (see Most Hip Hop). Also The Best Thing I’ve Ever Read, a literacy programme aimed at encouraging young people to read more, featuring musicians reading from their favourite books.

CALM – the Campaign Against Living Miserably – is a UK-based charity and campaign dedicated to reducing the suicide rate among young men through culture change. New Slang advises CALM pro bono on reaching young men through music, aiming to build effective, lasting alliances with the music industry.
A consultancy to Belgrade-based national radio station B92 – the subject of bestselling book This Is Serbia Calling and famed internationally for its commitment to responsible, independent journalism despite years of suppression under Milosevic – offering direction on format, scheduling and music policy.
